Washington Tool and Machine Company

Washington Tool and Machine Company, Inc. (WTM) operates a large machine shop, which specializes in machining large roll shaped forgings and castings, as well as rolled steel rings. WTM's single plant contains over 130,00 square feet of manufacturing space in four primary bays, with overhead crane capacities up to 50 tons. The plant operates 24 hours a day, five days a week, or six days, if neccessary, to meet customer delivery requirements. Many of WTM's 80 employees, including management, have substantial experience in the machining of large, heavy rings, rolls, and other large parts.

For the machining of forgings and roll products, WTM has six large CNC lathes, three of which exceed 125 horsepower. The largest will swing 60 inches in diameter and accomodate 660 inches in length. We also have five large lathes which feature full-length tracers, and four additional heavy lathes of up to 250 horsepower. For rings and flat round shapes, WTM has 12 vertical boring mills and chuckers, with swings up to 144 inches. Four of these machines feature CNC controls, enabling WTM to accurately produce complex contours.

Washington Tool and Machine Company is also equipped to perform milling and drilling operations on a wide variety of rings, rolls, and other shapes. Our brand new CNC drilling and milling machine will accurately drill holes and mill shapes on parts up to 96 inches wide by 101 inches long. We can perform other vertical, horizontal, and duplex milling as well.

Incorporated in 1957, WTM has served a large number of customers, both regional and national. Continuing users of our machining services on forged products include Union Electric Steel Corporation, Ellwood City Forge, Superior Forge and Steel Corporation, and Quality Rolls, Inc. WTM also serves all of the major ring rollers, including Ringmasters (an affiliate of Scot Forge), Ovako-Ajax, Inc., and Rotek Inc.

WTM is widely recognized for high quality machining and on time deliveries at competitive prices. We make every effort to respond to all customer requests, with a focus on excellent service.

WTM is also known as a involved corporate neighbor throughout the Washington community and well beyond.

Washington Tool and Machine Company is located in Western Pennsylvania, about 25 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, in the City of Washington. We are near the junction of Interstate Highways 70 and 79, directly on US Route 40.
